Gulf of Georgia Cannery Society AGM (2:00 PM, Sat., Apr. 7)

For club members who are also members of GOG, this meeting is an opportunity to get better acquainted with GOG board and other society members as well as having a preview of the new exhibit, ‘Women on the Homefront,’ to get ideas on how the club can incorporate Amateur radio activities into the museum’s programs and events.

The Vancouver Sun Run (Sun., Apr. 17)

Participate with RARC members along with 60+ other local radio Amateurs to provide radio communication support for one of North America’s largest 10km run event. RARC members will be taking positions on the south end of Burrard bridge (positions no. 25 to 27). Net control roll call of course positions is at 8:00 AM. Do not forget to also select the club you are representing when you register at: http://sunrun.bcwarn.net

Richmond Emergency Programs Volunteer Meeting (6:00 PM, Mon. Apr. 18)

Monthly meeting for RARC members who are volunteers with Richmond Emergency Programs ESS Amateur radio group. This is a good opportunity to catch up on what’s happening with our local emergency preparedness program and the emergency radio communication activities involved.

Safety and Secure Living Fair (Sat., May 7)

Once again RARC has been invited to set up a display booth (alongside emergency support service organizations like Salvation Army, St. John Ambulance and Canadian Red Cross) at Aberdeen Centre to demonstrate Amateur radio in emergency communications. Everyone is welcomed to join our table and promote our club to the public. Booth set up at 10:00 AM.

Richmond Public Works Open House (Sat., May 14)

The RARC booth has been a regular participant in the Emergency Preparedness area at the City’s annual event. This is a great opportunity to meet City staff and volunteers while promoting public awareness of personal emergency communications using Amateur radio. We need to be on site at 9:00 AM to move our communications trailer into our display area.

Field Day (June 25-26)

Our largest annual Amateur radio event of the year will take place again at Garry Point Park. The weekend’s activities, as usual, will require a lot of planning as well as on-site participation during the event. We need as many members as we can to get actively involved, from logistics to site set up to radio operations, and make this year’s event another success. More info will be sent out on the planning of the weekend in a few weeks.

Steveston Salmon Festival Canada Day Parade (Fri., July 1)

We’re not there yet (with the planning).
